Thinking Of Repainting Cabinets

Cabinets receive a significant amount of wear and tear in a busy household. Often this wear is visible through accumulated grease, dirt, grime, and/or chipping paint. While installing new cabinets is always an option, it’s not always feasible because of money, time or the inconvenience of the process. Another option that is not always considered, is to repaint kitchen cabinets. Depending on the condition of your cabinets, sometimes replacing is the most efficient choice, but when refinishing is done right, often it is the wisest alternative.
We commonly have people ask us if it is possible to repaint cabinets just because they are bored with the color. If you are wondering what color to paint your cabinets, here is a short summary of our advice on kitchen color: Kitchens should have a good amount of white to reflect light, and should have contrasting neutrals for interest. Neutrals (shades of tan, gray, black, and white) work especially well for cabinets, because they are timeless and allow the room to be easily updated with other favorite colors. Although some kitchens look good with brightly colored cabinets, we recommend keeping the cabinets neutral and adding color in other areas of the kitchen.
